We have real equipment to learn on in the classroom environment to give students the practical experience needed. Regrettably, the online environment does not allow for a physical lab. We have to substitute computer simulations and virtual machines in our online classes.
Computer labs provide a time and space for students to develop skills related to the classroom curriculum.
Hands-on Labs are designed to facilitate a myriad of learning activities. Solo learning and testing, to be sure. But also, and perhaps foremost, collaborative group work.
Regarding multimodel learning styles, a VARK-Learn.com survey showed, "that most people (87.1%) have some Kinesthetic included as part of their preference..."
Kinesthetic learning occurs when students are physically involved and start ‘doing’ it.
