TMS Academy MSEP Foundation Program

Building Portable Careers for Military Spouses

Military spouses bring leadership, resilience, adaptability, and valuable professional experience to the workforce. However, military relocations, family responsibilities, licensing requirements, and changing duty assignments can make it difficult to establish and maintain a long-term career.

The TMS Academy MSEP Foundation Program helps military spouses explore training, industry certifications, career development resources, and portable employment opportunities in technology and other growing career fields.

Our program is designed to support the goals of the Military Spouse Employer Partnership, which connects military spouses with employers committed to recruiting, hiring, promoting, and retaining military spouses. Build your skills. Earn recognized credentials. Connect with career opportunities.

Our Mission

The mission of the TMS Academy MSEP Foundation Program is to help military spouses develop the skills, credentials, professional connections, and career confidence needed to pursue meaningful and portable employment.

Through training, career preparation, employer engagement, and community outreach, TMS Academy works to create pathways that can support military spouses throughout relocations, deployments, family transitions, and changes in their professional goals.

Who We Serve

The program is designed for military spouses who are:

  • Beginning a new career
  • Returning to the workforce
  • Transitioning into IT or cybersecurity
  • Preparing for an industry certification
  • Seeking a flexible or remote position
  • Exploring project management or business technology
  • Interested in community outreach opportunities
  • Looking for career development and employer connections

No previous technology experience is required for every pathway. Program requirements vary by course, certification, employer, and funding source.

Four Pathways to Opportunity

1. Education and Certification Training

TMS Academy provides career-focused training designed to help individuals prepare for industry-recognized certifications and technology-related career opportunities.

Training pathways may include:

  • IT fundamentals
  • Technical support and help desk
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA CySA+
  • CompTIA Project+
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Project management
  • Professional and career development

Available courses, eligibility requirements, delivery formats, and funding options may vary.

SpouseWorks Scholarship Support

Eligible military spouses may be able to request training support through the SpouseWorks Scholarship or another approved funding pathway.

TMS Academy helps prospective students understand the training process and provides the appropriate program documentation when applicable. Final eligibility and funding decisions are made by the organization administering the benefit or scholarship.

2. Career Readiness and Professional Development

Certification training is one part of building a successful career. Military spouses may also need support presenting their experience, identifying transferable skills, and connecting their qualifications with employer needs.

Career-readiness services may include:

  • Career pathway guidance
  • Resume development
  • LinkedIn profile guidance
  • Interview preparation
  • Professional communication
  • Job-search strategies
  • Employer introductions
  • Virtual career workshops
  • Career fairs and hiring events
  • Post-training career support

Participation does not guarantee employment, a particular salary, or placement with a specific employer.

3. TMS Academy Outreach Opportunities

TMS Academy recruits military-connected candidates for community outreach and program-support opportunities.

Outreach Specialists help connect service members, military spouses, veterans, and military families with information about TMS Academy training programs, certification pathways, events, and enrollment resources. TMS Academy’s existing outreach materials describe these opportunities as commission-based roles and emphasize that compensation terms must be provided in writing before work begins. Outreach activities may include:

  • Introducing TMS Academy within military communities
  • Supporting community and installation-related events
  • Sharing approved information about available programs
  • Identifying individuals interested in training
  • Documenting leads and follow-up activity
  • Connecting prospective students with the appropriate TMS Academy representative
  • Supporting employer and community-partner outreach

Military affiliation does not guarantee selection, earnings, funding approval, or enrollment results. Applicants must complete TMS Academy’s application, contractor review, onboarding, and training requirements before beginning authorized outreach.

  • Military-friendly employers
  • Remote-work organizations

  • Participate in career-readiness events
  • Speak with students and graduates

Portable Skills for Military Life

Military families frequently manage relocations, deployments, changing schedules, and new communities. The TMS Academy MSEP Foundation Program emphasizes skills and career pathways that may be transferable across employers, industries, and geographic locations.

Support for Employers

Military spouses can offer employers valuable professional experience, flexibility, leadership, and an understanding of military-connected communities.

The Military Spouse Employer Partnership expects participating employers to support military spouse recruitment and retention, sign a Statement of Support following acceptance, and track and report military spouse hires. TMS Academy can help prospective employer partners explore opportunities to:

  • Connect with trained military-connected candidates
  • Participate in virtual hiring activities
  • Present career information to students
  • Support certification and workforce initiatives
  • Develop military spouse recruiting relationships
  • Promote appropriate portable and remote career opportunities

Participation in a TMS Academy activity does not represent automatic acceptance into the official Military Spouse Employer Partnership.
